Coastal Uncorked Trio Dinner

Grand Strand locals and visitors to Myrtle Beach both love the Trio Dinner, a showcase of some of the best executive chefs in the region as they partner with culinary students at both the high school and college level.

Executive chefs from a dozen local restaurants will participate, including Myrtle Beach chefs Brad Daniels of Croissants, Tom Pennell of Ruth’s Chris and Casey Blake of Drunken Jack’s in Murrells Inlet.

This is the seventh year of the trio dinner, which serves to support and promote the Myrtle Beach hospitality industry and culinary profession as well as to give students real-world experience and guidance under the watchful eye of a professional executive chef. A portion of the proceeds from the event go to the Myrtle Beach Hospitality Association’s (MBHA) scholarship funds, with more than $20,000 has been raised for the MBHA’s programs since the program began.

The event will include a silent auction, with nearly an array of items up for auction, with the list so far including tickets to Alabama Theatre, tickets for a dinner cruise with Barefoot Princess Riverboat, golf packages, a vacuum cleaner, restaurant gift cards, home furniture and gift baskets. Entertainment will be provided by Coastal Carolina University’s Jazz After Hours and After Hours Combo bands.

For a fun evening filled with top-notch food that also has an educational component, check out the Trio Dinner Coastal Culinary Experience. It will be a tasty way to support the vibrant culinary scene on the Grand Strand.

Restaurant Review: Pastaria 811 Pawleys Island

Pastaria 811 opened in November 1994 in the very back of the Litchfield Exchange Mall in Litchfield St. (next to BiLo). There was much skepticism and many doubts about the success of any restaurant, let alone an Italian Restaurant, in this “off the beaten path” location. The only advertising, other than these menus, is word of mouth by their customers. Pastaria 811  believes that it is truly the food, service and unique atmosphere that does all the talking for the restaurant.

The menu originates from the Abruzzi region of Italy. All of the recipes derive from the small town of “Palmoli” in Abruzzi. It is neither Northern or Southern however, it is exceptional as described by our many honored friends of Pastaria 811. “The 811” features fresh pastas, homemade Italian Bread, homemade sausage, meatballs, sauces, N.Y. thin crust pizza and the now sought after Abruzzi pan pizza.

Pastaria 811 uses fresh herbs, fresh garlic, Reggiano Parmigiano cheese, fresh Roma tomatoes and quality and care when it comes to the delicate handling of your food. Just try them once and you will see what you have been looking for in an Italian Restaurant.
