Spring Break at the Beach

If you’re looking for a fun family getaway for your kids’ spring break, look no further than the family paradise that is Pawleys Island, South Carolina. There are plenty of reasons this area tops the list of favorite family destinations year after year for trips any time of year, whether spring, summer, fall or winter. Here are a few of the reasons it’s such an excellent choice:

1. Amazing parks
The Grand Strand is full of fun attractions that both kids and parents can enjoy together. One of the biggest and best is Family Kingdom seaside amusement park in Myrtle Beach. You can ride the classic wooden roller coaster with ocean views, enjoy kiddie rides, or simply enjoy a carnival-like atmosphere. The park begins opening for limited hours in early April, and by the last week in May is open every day of the week.

In addition to Family Kingdom, families can also enjoy Pavilion Nostalgia Park for good old fashioned amusement park rides, including a historic carousel. Plus, it’s located right inside one of the biggest family attractions in Myrtle Beach …

2. Broadway at the Beach
Just 20 minutes north of Pawleys Island is Broadway at the Beach which is a destination in itself. There’s shopping, tons of food and entertainment, and super fun family attractions from ziplines to helicopter rides and jet boat rides. There’s really nothing else that compares to all Broadway at the Beach offers for families looking for entertainment and fun. Give yourself plenty of time to explore, because you won’t run out of things to do, see and check out any time soon.

3. Mini golf
The Grand Strand is, of course, the golf capital of the world, and adults and older kids can surely enjoy spending time together on golf courses in the spring at any of the more than 100 area golf courses. But if your family isn’t quite ready to step up to full-sized golf, you can always give the miniature variety a try: There are dozens of choices for minigolf in in the area, from Captain Hook’s Adventure Golf to Mount Atlanticus Minotaur Golf. They all offer a great opportunity to get outside with your family and enjoy some time together!

4. The beach!
Of course the number one reason people keep coming back to Pawleys Island for spring break, summer vacation and fall and winter getaways are the amazing white sand beaches that the Grand Strand is famous for. You can toss a Frisbee or ball on the beach, build a sandcastle, go for a long walk, or take a dip in the beautiful Atlantic Ocean! The average air temperature in April is 76 degrees, and the water gets up to 66 degrees, on average, which means you can expect some sunshine while you’re playing with your family in the sand!

HINT: Stay at Litchfield by the Sea and enjoy private beach access.  There is a large deck for sipping cocktails too.  Enjoy the convenience of showers and bathrooms too.
