From North Myrtle Beach to Murrells Inlet, Christmas tree lightings spread Christmas cheer along the Grand Strand. With festivities and ceremonies—along with appearances by Santa—the Christmas tree lightings are annual traditions sure to bring joy to the holiday season.

Here are some scheduled Christmas tree lightings:

North Myrtle Beach

Barefoot Landing, The annual “Lighting of the Landing”

When: 7 p.m. Nov. 18, 2011

Details: Santa will arrive via boat to light the giant Christmas tree. Enjoy caroling, refreshments, free carousel rides and more in the Barefoot Landing shopping and entertainment complex.

Myrtle Beach

Broadway at the Beach, 17th annual Christmas tree lighting

When: 6 p.m. Nov. 19, 2011

Details: Broadway at the Beach welcomes the holiday season with mascot appearances, special events, and, of course, the lighting of the Broadway tree. Fireworks will follow at 8 p.m.

The Market Common, 4th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

When: 5:30 p.m. Nov. 25, 2011

Details: Join the festivities in Valor Park including photos with Santa, live entertainment, complimentary Canipes hot chocolate and carriage rides. The tree is located in front of Grand 14 Cinema.

Surfside Beach

Surfside Beach tree lighting

When: 7 p.m. Dec. 10

Details: Enjoy Christmas music and light refreshments as the town of Surfside Beach lights its Christmas tree in front of Town Hall. Santa will make an appearance as well!

Murrells Inlet

Murrells Inlet annual Christmas parade and tree lighting

When: Parade starts at 3 p.m. Dec. 4

Details: The parade route runs from Booty’s to Morse Landing Park in Murrells Inlet. Santa Claus will greet visitors at the park following the parade for the tree lighting ceremony.
