Here is an online review: Oh man…if you’re looking for authentic, low-country barbeque for a steal, this is your place!  We stopped here on our way to Charleston – my wife, who grew up in the area, suggested we eat here for lunch.  First of all…their lunch buffet goes for $6.99…I thought it was a typo!  The place is definitely no-frills – basically a shack off Highway 17.  But, in my opinion, these tend to have the best local food.

The food is incredible…some of the best pulled pork BBQ I’ve had, and the vinegar-based sauces are perfect.  Then there are the sides – mac ‘n’ cheese, baked beans, collards, black eyed peas – all of it was phenomenal.

We loved lunch so much, we decided to grab take-out on the way back from Charleston for the rest of the family.  Six people had a ton of barbecue, baked beans, and hash for our rice for just over $30.

The only thing that kept Hog Heaven from receiving five stars – the staff.  The girl at the register had that disinterested, “we know our food is awesome, now buy some and leave” attitude that was a bit off-putting.  But hey – she’s right about the food.
